They don't mention anyone in particular, and TrendNet probably isn't one of them, but I'm not sure. The reason the computer reports it as a Prolific cable is that it uses a Prolific chip inside of the cable. I do have the latest driver for Celestron telescopes from the ASCOM website (). This has been going on for some time now (both in Win 7 and Win 10). Could it be that the cable is at fault? If so is there a bullet proof cable out there? In device manager COM 5 shows as a 'Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port' but the cable that goes into the USB slot is a TrendNet TU-S9 (see pic). Doesn't matter as it won't connect in software. ComPort 5 shows up in device manager and reports that it is working properly. It always wants to use ComPort 5 for the telescope driver. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers many times with no success.

I am pretty fed up with it as it is totally unreliable. If I do manage to get it to connect, in any program (SGP/Sharpcap/FireCapture/etc) it will work fine but it is almost 100% sure that it will not work the next time. My issue is with the Celestron telescope/mount driver. I have the latest ASCOM platform installed (6.) and am having no issues using ASCOM to control my moonlite focuser and my ASI camera. Not sure if this is the correct forum - but it does have to do with imaging.
